Mr. Suhrid Jyoti

Investor/Vice Chairman of STC

Early Years & Education

Mr. Suhrid Jyoti places high priority towards self-learning, growth and implementing new age management practices in his workplace. The younger of the two brothers, he is focused on fitness, family and enjoys experiencing new exciting activities like MMA or starting his own vlog.

Suhrid completed his schooling from St. Joseph’s Darjeeling and his +2 from St. George’s in Musssorie. He spent one year in Ranchi pursuing BIT at MSR after which he went to North Eastern University in Boston to complete his Bachelors and Masters in Industrial Engineering. In the US, he worked in Manufacturing and with John Hancock Insurance and before returning to Nepal.

Growing the family Business

He started working in Bhaju Ratna Engineering looking after Tafe tractors, Ashok Leyland trucks, ESAB welding rods, and Fenner V-belts. He also engaged with Himal Oxygen where he oversaw production and distribution, but over the years decided to focus more on trading and services.

In 2014, he established White Hat Digital Marketing which is now being led by Srijana Jyoti. White Hat offers digital marketing services and consulting services along with a call center. He established many companies under the White Hat Umbrella attempting to leverage technology to create platforms to sell different products like electronics, medicine, and fitness supplements. White Hat also has a vertical that looks after photography and events.

Business Philosophy

In addition to these initiatives, Suhrid’s interest in passionate individuals and entrepreneurs starting a unique service led him to invest in The Physique Workshop (TPW), a gym with 5-6 branches around Kathmandu. In 2015, he started “Bikeminded” a platform for motorbike accessories, and helmets and became a distributor for Shark helmets, bearing, Segura riding gear and Trip machine Co.

Suhrid enjoys learning, and graphing Entrepreneurial growth, along with bringing in new strategies to ensure profitability, customer satisfaction, cash flow and employee satisfaction. He believes that in business sometimes difficult decisions need to be made, for the overall betterment of the company. He says, “Not doing something is better than doing everything”, hinting that specializing and refining processes is more important than being involved in everything for the sake of it. For the same reason he prioritizes investing all his time in the business, with his family and for his health, rather than being engaged in multiple organizations.

He would like to further the legacy by continuing to have open conversations with his teams, and by creating a few niche champion products that could be exported globally. He is focused on increasing Nepali exports and conversely reduce Nepal’s dependency on product imports in order to help improve the balance of payments. He continues to focus on what could be done to make life better for his employees, his community and his nation, and seeks to add value to service driven businesses in health, agriculture and real estate. He looks forward to the nuances that new age technology brings in, and is eager to invest in and incubate new ideas to help grow the entrepreneurial passion of young Nepalis.
